The Artist
Quentin Lefranc (b. 1987, Tours, France; lives and works in Paris)
Quentin Lefranc’s self-portraits reflect on confinement, withdrawal and the impossible image. His image is crossed out, crushed after an impossible attempt at a total self-portrait, or transformed into a volume that inscribes itself in space. With the glass sculpture, Quentin Lefranc encloses his life-size portrait, re-enacting Le Corbusier’s measurement system the Modulor. In these works, he explores essential aspects of his practice, such as the question of emptiness and erasure. These elements allow us to take a critical look at the different media used by the artist, and to reflect on the hold our own bodies have on space.
Architecture functions as a framework, a territory, and a playground for Quentin Lefranc’s work. He creates a dialogue between the site and what is materialized within it. Through assembly or juxtaposition, he interrogates the elements that compose them, playing with their scope, histories, and attributions. While a sculptural dimension often prevails, his work emphasizes space for action rather than form alone.
Selected solo exhibitions include Collection Lambert, Avignon (2022); Fondation CAB, Brussels (2025); CAC Saint-Restitut, France (2023). Selected group exhibitions include FRAC Aquitaine, Bordeaux (2024); Cité du design, Saint-Etienne (2022); Collection Lambert, Avignon (2022). His works are held in collections including Fondation CAB; FRAC Aquitaine; Collection VR d’Affaux; and Collection Lambert.
The Gallery
In 1989, Jacqueline Rabouan Moussion opened a gallery rue Vieille du Temple in Paris and showed artists like Hervé Télémaque, Jean Degottex, Valie Export, Otto Muehl and Oleg Kulik. In 2015, the gallery inaugurates a new space rue Pastourelle with a solo show of Erwin Olaf « Waiting ».
Since its creation, the gallery favors an exploratory approach towards emerging scenes drawing its energy between subculture and political commitment. Thus, artists represented from their beginnings and today recognized by institutions (Hervé Télémaque, Erwin Olaf, Oleg Kulik) meet the creations of young talents and established artists.
